This is a paradox because pap never really raised him. He just left him to laze around and then the widow took care of Huck.

pg 38 "They said he could vote". He is what pap calls a nigger, this shows how racist he is and then he says he'll leave the county if a black person can vote. Latter he says that he was going to vote but was to drunk. So he doesn't even vote and now that a black person can he wont. He is just making excuses of himself for things he wont even do. This shows how insecure he is.
