Unlike the other classic Shakespearian, "The Eye are Watching God" is not like this at all. It's a love story about a beautiful mixed girl, that's trying to find true love. She goes through three different husbands not finding her true lover till the end.

This emphasizes that she never really wanted to do things Nanna's way and is glad she can finally do her own thing. This emphasizes that she is grown up and can now make her own choices. She's now ready to follow her heart. Thats what she wanted to do since the begining.
